GSM to Linear Weight Converter
What is GSM?
GSM (grams per square meter) measures the weight of fabric over a square meter of area. Higher GSM means a thicker and heavier fabric.
What is Linear Weight?
Linear weight is the weight of fabric measured per linear meter or yard of length. It depends on the fabric’s GSM and its width.
How to Convert GSM to Linear Weight
To calculate linear weight:
- For meters: Multiply GSM by the fabric width in meters.
- For yards: Multiply GSM by the fabric width in yards.
Formulas:
- g/m = GSM × (Width in cm ÷ 100)
- g/yd = GSM × (Width in cm ÷ 91.44)
Example Table: GSM to g/m (for width = 150 cm)
| GSM | Linear Weight (g/m) |
|---|---|
| 100 | 150 |
| 150 | 225 |
| 200 | 300 |
| 250 | 375 |
| 300 | 450 |
