Fabric Weight to Yarn Requirement
What is Yarn Requirement?
The yarn requirement tells you how much yarn (in meters) is needed to produce a given weight of fabric. This helps manufacturers estimate how much yarn to procure for weaving or knitting fabric.
How to Calculate Yarn Requirement from Fabric Weight
- Step 1: Enter the total weight of fabric in grams.
- Step 2: Enter the yarn count in Tex (grams per 1000 meters).
- Step 3: Use the formula: Yarn (m) = (Fabric Weight × 1000) ÷ Tex
Example Yarn Requirement Estimates
Fabric Weight (g) | Yarn Count (Tex) | Yarn Required (m) |
---|---|---|
100 | 20 | 5000 |
150 | 25 | 6000 |
200 | 30 | 6667 |
300 | 15 | 20000 |
250 | 40 | 6250 |
