Why were the Americans killing the children in World War 2?
The biggest reason so many kids died was the bombing. In Tokyo the U.S. used firebombs on crowded neighborhoods. They said they did it because small shops making war parts were hidden next to peoples wooden houses. When the fire started it spread super fast and whole familys got trapped inside. It was just a nightmare.
Then you have Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Its so sad because many children were actully at school when the atomic bombs hit. A lot of people know about Sadako Sasaki. She survived the explosion but then she died years later because of the radiation from the bomb.
On the ground it wasnt any better. In the fighting at Okinawa things were very messy. Japanese soldiers would hide in caves with regular people and kids. The American soldiers were terrified of being ambushed so they used flamethrowers or threw grenades into the caves. Most of the time they didnt realize there were kids inside until it was too late.
