Fabric Weight per Garment
What is Fabric Weight per Garment?
This is the total weight of fabric required for a single garment, based on the fabric’s GSM and the total cutting area. It’s helpful for estimating fabric usage and garment production cost.
How to Calculate Fabric Weight per Garment
- Step 1: Measure the cutting length and width in centimeters.
- Step 2: Convert these to square meters by dividing by 100.
- Step 3: Multiply the area by the fabric’s GSM to get the total weight in grams.
Formula: Weight (g) = (Length × Width in cm) ÷ 10,000 × GSM
Example Fabric Weight Estimates
Length (cm) | Width (cm) | GSM | Fabric Weight (g) |
---|---|---|---|
150 | 100 | 120 | 180 |
180 | 120 | 150 | 324 |
200 | 150 | 180 | 540 |
140 | 90 | 100 | 126 |
160 | 110 | 200 | 352 |
