Sine to Tangent Converter
How to Convert Sine to Tangent
To convert a sine value to a tangent value, you can use a trigonometric identity that relates sine and cosine:
Formula:
tan(θ) = sin(θ) / cos(θ)
Since cosine can also be written in terms of sine using the Pythagorean identity:
cos(θ) = √(1 - sin²(θ))
So the full formula becomes:
tan(θ) = sin(θ) / √(1 - sin²(θ))
Example:
Suppose sin(θ) = 0.6
Step 1: Calculate cos(θ)
→ √(1 - 0.6²) = √(1 - 0.36) = √0.64 = 0.8
Step 2: Divide sine by cosine → 0.6 / 0.8 = 0.75
Result: tan(θ) = 0.75
