How to Convert Sine to Amplitude

In a sine wave equation of the form y = A·sin(bx + c), the coefficient A represents the amplitude of the wave.

Formula:
Amplitude = |A| (the absolute value of A)

Example:

Given the function y = -5·sin(x), the amplitude is:

  • A = -5
  • Amplitude = |−5| = 5

Result: The amplitude is 5.
