How to Calculate Percentage Increase
To calculate the percentage increase from an **original value** to a **new value**, use the following formula:
Percentage Increase (%) = [(New Value – Old Value) / Old Value] × 100
Example Calculation
Step 1: Identify the values
Old Value = 50
New Value = 80
Step 2: Apply the formula
Percentage Increase = [(80 – 50) / 50] × 100
Step 3: Solve
Percentage Increase = (30 / 50) × 100
Percentage Increase = 0.6 × 100
Percentage Increase = 60%
Note: If the new value is smaller than the old value, it would be a percentage decrease instead.
